You can give another adult access to see your healthcare records through a special feature on the My Care platform, called ‘Proxy Access’.

This enables third party access which means another person can act as a proxy for someone to help with their care needs. Usually granted to a person’s next of kin, relatives or carers. This could be to help manage appointments or to better understand test results from secondary care (your specialist in the hospital/community)

Adult proxy access means: A person over the age of 18 (with full competency) can grant and revoke third party access to their next of kin, relatives or carers through the sharing hub in My Care.

Who can access My Care?

Any adult with capacity can access their own record, give access to their record to another person/persons or remove that access Any person under the age of 18 can request access to their own My Care record once they are assessed by an HSC professional as competent to do so. The level of access granted will be based on the best interests for the young person’s health and which is agreed with them. A young person with capacity has a right to allow or prevent proxy access e.g. by a parent, and proxy access must be granted by an HSC professional.

If you are an adult who has a carer or someone who helps you with your healthcare journey, this video can show you how you can grant and revoke proxy access.
