Reflecting on one defining year: November 2024 – November 2025
We are delighted to launch volume 2 of the encompass yearbook, documenting the defining 12-month period from November 2024 to November 2025, marking the completion of a region-wide Go-Live across all five Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland and the transition from implementation to measurable, real-world impact.
The yearbook captures how encompass moved from a major digital rollout to an embedded, region-wide electronic health and social care record.
During this period, encompass reached a once-in-a-generation milestone.
- Reflecting on one defining year: November 2024 – November 2025
- Northern, Southern and Western Health and Social Care Trusts all went live with encompass.
- All Health and Social Care Trusts were live on a single Epic electronic healthcare record.
- The focus began to shift from deployment to optimisation, confidence and cultural change.
- New services, specialities and care settings joined encompass.
- Data began to demonstrate clear improvements in safety, efficiency and patient experience.
This edition is deliberately framed around this timeframe, offering a focused record of how the programme matured during it’s first full year as a region-wide system.
This publication highlights how staff adapted to the new digital workflows, regional working became routine, patients increasingly engaged through My Care, and data insights started driving service improvement, workforce planning and patient safety initiatives. Personal stories from clinicians, AHPs, digital staff and patients demonstrate the lived experience of this change.
The yearbook captures the moment encompass reached a once-in-a-generation milestone, providing a shared reference point for what was achieved, lessons learned, and the foundations now in place for future digital innovation and improvement. This is both a celebration and a record of progress during a defining chapter in Northern Ireland’s digital health journey.
