Analytics & Insight

The DHCNI Analytics and Insight HSCDI team includes data scientists, business intelligence developers and data analysts providing internal analytics service and capacity in enabling technologies.  This is supported by two platforms:

  1. NIHAP is an analytics platform created in 2020 by DHCNI, primarily to support the PHA response to the pandemic and has continued to develop post pandemic.   Built using Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics and is hosted within Microsoft UK Southern Region datacentres, residing on Belfast Health and Social Care secure cloud tenancy.  Platform is used for data analytics, processing and storage including the production of dashboards.
  2. GPIP provides the mechanism to routinely extract confidential patient information from GP clinical information systems and load it into a data warehouse.  This supports the provision of Primary Care data in timely information for decision making required to improve the quality-of-service delivery to patients.  It also supports the MDT (Multi-disciplinary Teams) Programme with analysis, data visualisation, provision of reports, provision of training of users and technical support

General Practioner Intelligence Platform

The General Practitioner Intelligence Platform (GPIP) is a single integrated view of General Practitioner (GP) practice data held in a central database. GPIP extracts data from all GP practices in Northern Ireland across the 17 Federations. This data is loaded on to a data warehouse hosted by the Data Institute. The Data Institute’s Analytics and Insight Team currently provides analytics and reporting services to support GPIP objectives.
