This month on Digital Dispatches, Ella Jameson (Senior Programme Manager, encompass) provided a progress report on the development of My Care, the patient portal.
My Care, the patient facing element of the encompass solution will be rolled out gradually on a Trust by Trust basis to coincide with Go Live.

It has the potential to fundamentally change how patients engage with services but functionality will be limited in the early stages. A Task and Finish Group, led by Neil Black (Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), Western Trust), is currently involved in a process of identifying how other functions can and should be switched on.

Ella explains how service users will be able to sign up to My Care on a desktop or by downloading an app on their mobile.   She also provides a tour through some of the features currently available on My Care.

“It is a bit of a journey that we are on with this and it’s probably worth saying up front, there is some nervousness about some My Care capabilities,” says Ella.
“It’s a challenging time, but also an exciting time.”

Ella also gives a brief overview of some of the other work (in additional to My Care), the encompass Engagement Council has been involved in.
