My Care has been designed to empower and encourage patients to take an active role in their healthcare journeys and The My Care Team have been working closely with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to ensure the platform meets the needs of blind and partially sighted service users.
In RNIB’s Christmas Cracker podcast episode, they speak with Dr. Neil Black, Chair of The My Care Regional Governance and Decision Making Group and Chief Clinical Information Officer of the Western Health and Social Care Trust. Dr. Black shares an insightful overview of how My Care can benefit people living with sight loss.
My Care makes it easier for people to stay informed about their hospital information and electronic access is particularly useful for people with visual impairments. Dr. Black discusses how the app is accessible and compatible with assistive technologies like VoiceOver, for those who rely on screen reader tools for assistance. The accessibility helps service users navigate their records independently, reducing the reliance on paper-based communication.

My Care does not include primary care records (GP records or results of tests requested by your GP) or historical medical information before encompass was implemented in your Trust.
Some test results are released automatically and some are released after your clinician has seen and acted on them. You can ask for your specialist to release results for you too.
Social Care records are currently not available but will be added in the future.
My Care is an evolving system. It will change and develop based on patient experience and improving technology.
My Care will not replace traditional communication methods with your secondary care provider.
