South Eastern Trust Dietician provides insight into the benefits of Epic

As South Eastern Trust step up activities to Go-Live, the team recently got speaking to Helaina Jackson, an Advanced Practice Dietitian, who was, “counting down the days until November”.
Helaina previously worked in a Trust in England that had implemented a electronic record. Since returning to Northern Ireland, she said that her job was taking almost “60% longer” to do.
The Epic system will she said; “make things so much faster and less painful, will avoid duplication, and everything will be on one system”.
Helaina insists that encompass is not only ‘Epic’ for our patients and service users, but is a significant benefit for healthcare professionals. She added that the “change was scary” but encouraged people to ‘hang-in and be patient’.
She said, “you’re going to have a whole team around you supporting you and we will take each day as it comes but it will be so, so worth it in the end.” We all must work together, team work makes the dream work!
